Unity Plugin/Xcode interaction

I'm currently working on a project with people creating some new hardware for game interaction. They're expert software programmers who've never used unity before, and I'm at least a savvy game developer who codes exclusively with unityscript within Unity. So the software engineers know how to input into Xcode, and I know how to create an Xcode project from unity, but we've hit something of a wall in bridging between the two areas. I know I need to write a plugin for unity but I'm in over my head because I only really know unityscript. Does anyone have a SUPER Plugins-For-Dummies guide for me to write something that will show up in Xcode that the software engineers will be able to interact with in Xcode, and which I'll be able to read from within unity? I just need a script with three integers that get changed by the hardware through Xcode and which I can then read from unity. Or, is it going to be easier to find a Unity-For-Dummies guide and give it to the engineers?
